La Piazza, New Delhi – Chefs Ivan Chieregatti and Alessandro Sandrolini have introduced a new menu. The menu has traditional dishes from different parts of Italy and they focuses on use of fresh Ingredients. The food at La Piazza has always been good and I never felt that they were over doing something in the recipe, which does not go well with Italian food.
Talking about the new menu we started with salads and Misticanza was the first one to be served. It was a nice greenly light salad. Next on the menu is something which I liked the most in salads though the cheese used in not Italian but it goes very well with Indian Summers. Insalata di anguria e feta, perfectly cut watermelon deseeded and served with Feta cheese and lemon dressing. Insalata di legume this is a salad which would be loved by the people who are incline towards Indian taste because of the lentil used in the dish.
Risotto con pomodoro fresco, burrata e basilica is a Risotto cooked with very little cheese but can be done without cheese as well. I can say this as I have tried it my kitchen and the taste doesn’t change much, if you don’t use any cheese. This was a very healthy dish. The other two vegetarian pasta were very well made as Penne alla siciliana was your simple tomato sauce pasta with fried egg plants. Tortelloni ripieni di ricotta e tartufo nero serviti con crema di patate which has more intense flavors in comparison to penne.
In the non-veg pastas we tried Fusilli al ragu di anatra con pecorino which according to my palate had too much going in the dish. Dark coco , wine and duck did not go well for me while on the other hand the Cannelloni gratinati, ripieni di pollo was super delicious.
Trancio di salmone alla griglia, peperonata con patate, olio al basilica – Grilled Salmon fillet, stew capsicum and potatoes , basil oil. Salmon with skin perfectly pan seared , you could actually run a fork against the skin and feel the crunch. In Tagliata di filetto alla griglia al pepe verde e rosmarino con rucola they use water buffalo for this dish and tasted good.
Tortino di semolina e zafferano alla piastra – saffron semolina cake crispy, vegetables smoked cheese sauce – It has the right consistency and one of the finest semolina cakes I have ever tasted.
Talking about the most sexy part of Italian Food – The Desserts
La piazza is known for its Tiramisù for years but the menu has some new additions which will take this sweet affair to the next level. Souffle’ di cioccolato con gelato alla banana e salsa al caramello Chocolate fondant with banana ice cream and caramel sauce- This is the most amazing dessert that we had in our meal, it takes 10 to 15 min to make this dessert. We would suggest do order this dish early otherwise you have to wait. The rich chocolate just flows out when you dig into the soufflé. And if you are not a chocolate fan order a Panna cotta ai frutti di bosco .
