Mister Chai , New delhi – Shangri-La’s – Eros Hotel has broken the monotony of a five star hotel’s coffee shop by going regional with the Desi chai. The interiors are done by Dubai based Stickman Designs and they have kept the global aspects of a café combined with the Regional concept. The 50 seated café is elegant and relaxing. A Jewel box air cooled fridge displays lovely collection of pastries and chocolates. The service was impeccable from serving to clearing our tables to guiding tourists about different types of tea.
Talking about the lovely collection of tea they have it’s a heaven for any tea lover from around the world as they have Green tea and black teas which comes from Sri lanka , the oolong tea adds refinement to the menu and if we talk about going regional they do serve one of the finest Kashmiri kahwa. The food also included bits and pieces of the famous chai snacks from around the country. The butter chicken samosa which is a combination made in heaven to colaba fish fry Sandwich from Mumbai. If you want to stick to the basics without too much mess then they have a healthy version of namkeens as well . Executive Chef, Neeraj Tyagi’s effort have brought a perfect balance between the tea and regional Indian snacks with a spin.
There is a dish name SPDP which is a must have if you like the taste of tangy Indian chats. It’s basically golgape filled chats which tangle your taste buds, but on a serious note they have gone a little too far naming this dish.
Coffee drinkers don’t be disappointed they also have a very well elaborated coffee menu as well.
If you have a look at their pastry collection you would know that a very talented pastry chef has done his job very well. Pastry chef Sukanta has created some beautiful master pieces which look good and taste even better. Cheese cake & Éclair are pleasing to eyes and very well designed. They also sell Macaroon at a very reasonable price of Rs 99 per piece.
A tea for 2 will cost you – Rs 1200 to 1500 ++
Let’s let not compare the prices of this place to any other tea shop in Delhi as they have succeeded where rests have failed.
