AANCH Rajouri Garden

No one guarantees happiness, except our parents off course! But, what about a place which neither pinches the pocket, nor compromises on quality? I came across one such place recently – AANCH, Rajouri Garden – a plush 20,000 sq feet property which caters varied customer requirements – all under one roof!

The main entry opens up to reveal a well-designed lobby with Aanch – The Fine Dine Restaurant, Kash – The Hookah Lounge and the exquisite property XTC – The Lounge Bar. Also, to cater big groups, Aanch provides multiple options including an open air dining area known as Company Baugh and Majlis – a thoughtfully done area idle to suit the crowd for private parties/kitty parties.

Catering world cuisines on their plate, Aanch is sure to mesmerize just anyone with their delightful dishes, hospitable staff and rich aesthetics!

We reserved our seats in the fine dine area – Aanch, which isn’t too huge, but looks warm and inviting. We tried and tasted the following:

Muddy Puddle

An absolute delight! A fine combination of chocolate, black current and orange juice, the Muddy Puddle is definitely worth a try.

Red Ferrari

The fancy name raised the bar of my expectations, but it dropped in the same glass with just a sip! I LOVE pomegranate drinks, but this one odd time I instantly had to regret ordering it. I just wish it could be more refreshing. The entire composition consists of a pomegranate base with flavored soda and a kick of lime cordial with rock salt.

Watermelon Refresher & Crazy Melon

We ordered two watermelon based drinks and I was just wondering to what extent they would play with the complementing ingredients to achieve distinctive flavors, but, again – a letdown. Not only the flavors were mediocre, the presentation too was boring. A margarita or a brandy glass could be an interesting twist to the presentation, whereas the flavors could be enhanced with scooped out watermelon balls floating gracefully or pinned in toothpick.

Blue Lagoon

I almost lost the hope of finding something at par as muddy puddle when my eyes read the description of the cocktail – Blue Lagoon. The tall glass arrived with the blue cocktail and oh boy! The drink was so awesome. Loved it!

Spring Rolls

Super Yummy! Crisp & not too oily rolls were served with an eye-catchy presentation.

Potato and cheese rolls

Not too great! A decent option for kids though.

Mushroom and cheese rolls

Loved them! Crisp, thin layered and an oozing hot filling – totally superb!

Indian Veg & Non-Veg Platter

MUST TRY! You can’t go wrong with an Indian platter, be it veg and non-veg! Aanch has kept the spices in check, quality maintained and presentation tempting. Served along mint chutney and onions, the veg platter has an amazing fivesome combo of malai soya chaap, bharwan mushroom, achari paneer tikka, banjara kebab and dahi ke kebab. The freshly prepared chaap and paneer tasted fantastic, while the mushrooms were better than most of the places. Honestly, the non-vegetarian version of the Indian Platter was ordered for my friend, but it requires a special mention that the non-vegetarian platter was drool-worthy and she also stated that fish tikka and murg malai tikka were the best from the lot.

Main Course:

Amritsari Paneer Bhurji, Dum Aaloo Kashmiri and Hara Pyaaz Masala Mushroom

All the vegetable came out decent and we had no complaints. Though we realized later that we should have mentioned the server about our love for spice food, but no regrets – The food was brilliant. The paneer bhurjee was cooked to perfection and the mushrooms had a lovely flavor, but certainly, Dum Aaloo Kashmiri wasn’t at par.

Red Chilli Parantha

Crisp and well-balanced, it makes a decent option with paneer bhurji.

Coconut cigar with Ice-cream & Fruit Cocktail with Ice-cream

It’s a sin to leave the table without desserts and I follow this rule by heart. Despite our satiated stomachs, we ordered the desserts and thank god we did, because both the above items are NOT TO BE MISSED. Depending upon your preferences, you can also choose other delectable options from the menu.

Well, all that being said and done, the place has its own share of little flaws, but with little improvements and innovation down the line, a lavish property like Aanch has the potential to steel all the limelight that other cafes and restaurants are grabbing in Rajouri Garden. I would love to see some molecular drinks, some awesome sizzlers and a refreshing rustic setting in the outdoors.
